This page is for all fictional locomotives on the Ōigawa Railway in Japan.

C11[]

C11 (pronounced Shī Jū ichi, English equivalent Cee Eleven) is a large tank engine from Japan. He sees Hiro as a brother figure.

Technical Details[]

Basis[]

C11 is based on a JNR Class C11. Designed by Hideo Shima, a total of 381 of these locomotives were built for the Japanese Government Railways and Japanese National Railways between 1932 and 1947. C11 64 and JNR C11 227 are other members of this class.

C11 appears to particularly be a fictionalised version of C11 190, one of two C11s operational on the Ōigawa Railway, the other having been disguised as Thomas. C11 190 was built in 1940 by Kawasaki Sharyo. After being withdrawn in 1974, it was sold to a private owner in Yatsushiro, Kumamoto, Mr. Toshimitsu Ozawa, later joining the Ōigawa Railway in June 2001. Following a two-year overhaul, C11 190 returned to service on 19th July 2003. Since December 2021, C11 190 has been decorated as the Ōigawa Railway's Thomas, to replace C11 227 which is currently out of service.

E10[]

E10 (pronounced ī ichi maru, English equivalent E One Zero) is an electric boxcab from Japan. He pushes the coaches of the steam locomotives from behind.

Technical Details[]

Basis[]

E10 is based on the Ōigawa Railway E10 series electric boxcabs. These engines were built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in October 1949. The E10s were originally used as passenger locomotives, however as trains developed they were relegated to freight duties. E101 and E102 are currently used as shunters or as back engines for longer trains.

Livery[]

E10 is painted dark brown with black bufferbeams.

Appearances[]

Trivia[]

Zoom[]

Zoom (Japanese: ズーム) is an electric multiple unit from Japan. He loves running by the lakes, farms and fields along his line, in particular tea plantation and riverside.

Technical Details[]

Basis[]

Zoom is based on the Nankai Electric Railway 21000 Series electric multiple units. The 21000 Series units were built in 1958 for the Kōya line's express passenger trains. They were powerful enough to climb the steep mountains while also being fast enough to run across the Kawachi plain at 110 kilometres per hour. Following withdrawal, two sets (21001+21002 and 21003+21004) were sold to the Ōigawa Railway and currently operate on their Main Line. It is these two sets that Zoom is based upon.

Livery[]

Zoom is painted light turquoise with dark green whiskers.

Appearances[]

Trivia[]

  • Zoom's name is derived from the nickname given to the 21000 series, "Zoom Car".
