Thomas the Tank Engine Wiki

A Picture for the Mayor is a magazine story.

Plot[]

One evening, The Fat Controller informs the engines that The Mayor would like a photograph of an engine for the town hall. The photographer will arrive in the morning. Thomas asks The Fat Controller if he has picked an engine yet but he has not. The engines then begin to debate which engine should have their photo taken.

The Fat Controller then tells Henry that he will pull the express tomorrow while Gordon gets polished. At night, the engines keep talking about the photograph, especially Gordon who is the most determined to be chosen.

The next day, while Henry is out with the express, Gordon grandly shows off his freshly polished self at the main station. Thomas is shunting coal trucks in the yard and is getting very dusty in the process. The photographer soon arrives in the yard and says he wants to photograph a hard working engine, which Thomas just so happens to be. Thomas is very surprised but extremely pleased!
