Thomas the Tank Engine Wiki

A Push for Percy is a magazine story.

Plot[]

It is a busy day at the harbour, as two big ships have arrived together and Duck is feeling rushed off his wheels trying to move the loaded trucks out of the way. Percy arrives and Duck asks him for help but Percy informs Duck that he has a goods train to pull and suggests asking Diesel, who is also at the harbour. Duck is reluctant to do so, knowing Diesel can be both rough and unhelpful. Percy has to agree.

Diesel then arrives with Percy's goods. Percy is surprised at how heavy it looks, to which Diesel informs him that it was going to be Henry's before a change in the timetable was made. Percy tries his hardest to pull the trucks and he is soon puffing out of the harbour. However, Percy soon runs into trouble when he comes to Gordon's Hill. The trucks prove to be too heavy for the little engine and Percy grounds to a halt.

The guard leaves warning lamps along the line and soon, Diesel is heard coming up behind Percy. The driver suggests having Diesel give Percy a push but Percy is reluctant. The two engine drivers have a talk and, soon, Diesel is coupled behind Percy and starts pushing. Percy thanks Diesel to which Diesel replies that diesel engines must always be ready to prove themselves to silly old steam engines. Percy huffs and has a feeling Diesel had intentionally given him the wrong train.
