A Really Useful Crane is a magazine story.
Plot[]
The workmen are building a new station. Each day, Percy brings bricks to the site, where he enjoys watching the workmen use a crane to lift the bricks. A boy who lives near the site also enjoys watching the crane work and waves to Percy every time he passes.
One day, Percy finds the boy looking upset. His cat is stuck in a tree and the workmen can't climb it. Percy then has the idea of using the crane to get it down. A basket is attached to the crane's arm and the cat is brought back to its owner.
