A Rush Can Cause a Fuss is a magazine story. The second part of this story is titled Gordon is Late.
Plot[]
James is once again boasting about himself to the other engines. Today, he is to pull a special goods train. Duck and Henry are surprised to see James in such a good mood, as he typically dislikes trucks. James stammers trying to come up with why it is a special train, insisting he is never late but is interrupted by the stationmaster telling him to get a move on.
James tries to hurry but is briefly held up by Percy having the right of way in the yard. James' trucks complain about his rushing, but James ignores them and ends ups at the harbour half an hour late. James tries to rush the workmen loading crates into his train and he ends up leaving before the crates are properly secured.
James makes good time but, suddenly, while rounding a bend, some of the crates spill out of their trucks. It takes a long time to set things right and James becomes later than ever. The Fat Controller is upset that all of his rushing caused such a fuss and James apologises for what he had done.
