Accident in the Yard is a magazine story.
Plot[]
One day, a big ship docks at the harbour. Big cranes unload the crates from the ship and Duck is instructed to bring trucks for them to be loaded into. Suddenly, the rope of one crane snaps and the crate it is lifting smashes right on top of Duck.
Duck ends up scratched and dented and is sent to The Works. Duck thinks he can still work until he whistles before setting off with the trucks. The sound of the whistle is very awkward and it will not stop. Percy and Diesel overhear it and grow annoyed.
Duck whistles all the way to The Works and the engineers soon fix his whistle and dents. Duck is a little nervous about whistling again, but the engineers reassure him it will be okay. Sure enough, Duck gives his fixed whistle a happy peep.

- In the illustration, Duck's footplate is red instead of black, and the square where his number is has red lining instead of yellow.
- In the same illustration, Duck's wheels are painted grey instead of black.
