Alf is an 0-4-0 narrow gauge diesel working on the Talyllyn Railway. It has a maximum speed of 9 mph. Alf was built in 1950, using parts of another engine stored at Brynglas.

Alf was named after Lord Alfred Robens, a politician and Chairman of the National Coal Board between 1961 and 1971.

The character Fred on the Skarloey Railway is based on Alf. It has often been used to portray Fred at "Duncan Day" events on the Talyllyn Railway.
