Background Information[]
Annie and Clarabel are fictional standard gauge coaches created by the Rev. W. Awdry.
Annie and Clarabel first appeared in the first series episode, License to Deliver, which first aired in 2021.
Behind the Scenes[]
2D animated rigs[]
Annie and Clarabel in All Engines Go use a series of complicated 2D rigs created by Nelvana Studio. These rigs are made up of different assets, which can be stretched, squashed and posed to create the desired movements and poses. Annie and Clarabel's movements are handled by an animation team, with a posing team to create specific poses as required for certain shots.[1]

Annie and Clarabel's 2D designs have undergone many changes from the designs used in the original series:
- Their names have been replaced with ornate patterns.
- While it is unknown the exact reason for this change, it is most likely so that the English names for the characters will not appear in other dubs.
- The two now have iris colours: Annie's irises are orange, whilst Clarabel's are grey.
- The two now have eyebrows.
- Clarabel gained freckles.
- Both coaches have fewer but larger windows.
- Additionally, Annie gained a guard's compartment.
- Both coaches no longer have visible doors.
- Their axleboxes have been removed.
- The pair only have 6 roof vents each, fewer than in the original series.
- The pair are exceptionally larger than they were in the original series.
- They gain the ability to move by themselves, though this is very inconsistent throughout the series.
- Clarabel typically faces forwards and is coupled up in front of Annie instead of facing backwards and being back-to-back with her, though still faces backwards and is positioned behind Annie on some occasions.
- They gain Yorkshire accents in the UK dub from the first series episode An UnbeLEAFable Day onwards, and they lost their British accents in the US dub.
- They are now used as regular passenger coaches rather than being owned by Thomas.
