Arlesburgh is a seaside town and popular tourist hotspot on Sodor's west coast based on both sides of the River Arle Estuary. The town is served by both the North Western and Arlesdale railways.

History[]

The North Western and Arlesdale railways run through the town. A shunting yard is located here, the Arlesburgh Maritime Museum is located here, near the harbour, and is served by a small halt. The Harwick Branch Line splits from the Little Western here, and runs north along the coast to Harwick. Arlesburgh Goods Yard serves as the base of the branch line, and is located north of the town.

Trivia[]

  • A signpost in the first series episode, Toby and the Stout Gentleman spells Arlesburgh was "Arlsburgh".
    • This is also how it was spelt on early Railway Series maps, including ones drawn by the Reverend W. Awdry.
  • In the French dub, Arlesburgh is called "Calembourg". "Calembour" means pun, so it is a pun on being a pun.
