There are two types of trucks which appear on the Arlesdale Railway in The Railway Series.
Hoppers[]
The Arlesdale Railway owns ten[1] hopper wagons built at Arlesburgh Works which are used for transporting ballast.
The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway had abandoned their former ballast and road-stone business, but kindly allowed the Arlesdale Railway to search their records for designs of bogie Hopper wagons together with a Chute gantry for unloading them quickly and with the minimum of effort.[2]
These bogie wagons are taken up to the ballast mines by the miniature engines, loaded up, and brought back down to Arlesburgh West, where they are then placed on the chute. The loads drop out from the bottom of the trucks into the standard gauge trucks below, and the North Western Railway takes the ballast to their own railway.
Personalities[]
Sentient trucks fall into the category of Troublesome Trucks.
Technical Details[]
Basis[]
The hoppers are based on those of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, who offered insight to their design to the Arlesdale Railway.[1]
Livery[]
The hoppers are painted brown with "ARLESDALE" painted on both sides in white. Their numbers (No. 1-10) are written underneath, also in white.
