There are two types of trucks which appear on the Arlesdale Railway in Thomas & Friends.

Hoppers[]

The Arlesdale Railway owns several hopper wagons which are used for transporting ballast.

These bogie wagons are taken up to the ballast mines by the miniature engines, loaded up, and brought back down to Arlesburgh West, where they are then placed on the chute. The loads drop out from the bottom of the trucks into the standard gauge trucks below, and the North Western Railway takes the ballast to their own railway.

Rex, Bert and Mike once pushed some hoppers off the ballast chute to block Sailor John from stealing Captain Calles' Pirate Ship.

Technical Details[]

Basis[]

The hoppers are based on those of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. Compared to their real-life basis and their appearance in The Railway Series, the hoppers seen in the television series are slightly shorter, made of wood and are fitted with buffers and chain couplings.

Livery[]

The hoppers are painted brown with "ARLESDALE" painted on both sides in white.

Appearances[]

Plank Trucks[]

The Arlesdale Railway owns several plank trucks. These open wagons are used primarily for transporting wool.

Technical Details[]

Basis[]

The plank trucks are based on the standard gauge 7-plank open wagons, scaled down accordingly. They also have two extra planks incorporated into their design.

Livery[]

The plank trucks are painted coral pink with black frames and grey buffer beams.

Appearances[]

Bogie Flatbeds[]

The Arlesdale Railway owns bogie flatbeds, which are used for carrying long loads such as wooden crates and shipping containers.

Technical Details[]

Basis[]

These flatbeds are scaled down versions of the Taff Vale Railway Macaw G from the Golden Books illustrated by Tommy Stubbs.

Livery[]

These flatbeds are painted grey with red bufferbeams.
