Queen of Sodor[]
This article is about the barge. You may be looking for the Italian DVD. |
- "That old tub?!"
- ― James
The Queen of Sodor is the name of a leaky old barge. It is the biggest barge on Sodor. James was once tricked by Gordon into taking her to the scrapyards. James accidentally crashed the barge's smokestack through a low-hanging pipe, sending sludge all over the barge and the rails.
Appearances[]
Trivia[]
- A British narrowboat was named after the Queen of Sodor in real-life.[1]

Bob and Steve[]
For other uses, see Bob. |
Bob and Steve are two barges that once resided at Brendam Docks and the New Harbour.
They have been used for delivering many kinds of cargo, such as hay, China clay, treacle, stone or coal. Diesel 10 once plunged into one of these barges hauling sludge, after falling off the Big Dipper in pursuit of Thomas and Lady.
Technical Details[]
Livery[]
Bob and Steve's hulls are painted black and their decks are painted red. Their names are painted on their bows in white lettering.
Appearances[]
Trivia[]
- The name Bob may be a reference to art director, Robert "Bob" Gauld-Galliers. Whereas the name Steve may be a reference to assistant director and model supervisor, Stephen "Steve" Asquith.
- Smaller barges resembling these have appeared throughout the third series to the sixth series.
- Due to the fact that the models were never seen after Thomas and the Magic Railroad, it can be assumed that they were destroyed during the transit back from Canada after filming wrapped up.
The Barges[]
These barges are used to transport heavy goods over water, and are hauled by the Tugboats and Salvage Boats. Several of these are moored at Brendam Canal, Brendam Docks, Knapford Harbour and The Seaside Village.

- The original barges had raised hull and deck ends. Whereas, the newer barges had flat-bottom hulls and flat decks and less mooring anchors.

- ― Thomas
The Rail Barge is used for transporting engines and rolling stock.
Thomas once rode on this barge on the way to the Mainland, but the rusty chains attaching the barge to the ship broke and sent Thomas floating out at sea. Eventually, Thomas reached Misty Island, whereupon the barge was abandoned.
