Bill and Ben is a book containing two short stories.
Bill and Ben
Bill and Ben are twin engines who work in the Clay Pits. Sir Topham Hatt asks the twins to help sort trucks at the harbour, but they end up causing a big mess and are sent back to the pits in disgrace. Suddenly, a rock slide occurs. Bill and Ben quickly round up the workmen and are praised for their actions.
Jack the Digger
Thomas has been sent to take Jack the Digger to work at the construction site. Jack is very friendly and asks the other machines if he can help them. Suddenly, Ned accidentally bumps into a bridge. Jack quickly holds up the crumbling bridge for Thomas and the machines are happy to have his help.
