"Bulstrode is a disagreeable barge. He never stops complaining!"
Percy's driver[src]

Bulstrode is a grumpy old motorised barge who used to work at Knapford Harbour.

Biography[]

Bulstrode was used to carry coal and stone to Knapford Harbour, but always complained about not being loaded fast enough, which annoyed the trucks. One day, Percy was shunting some stone trucks off the quay when the trucks fell off and into Bulstrode's hold, bursting a hole in his hull. He was then towed to a beach, where he was turned into a children's play structure. He remains there today, most likely still grumbling.[1]

Personality[]

Bulstrode was grumpy, rude, and always found something to complain about. Judging from the way he treated the trucks, he was not above bullying others for things beyond their control.

Technical Details[]

Basis[]

Bulstrode is based on a 1920s motorised sea-going barge.

Livery[]

Bulstrode is painted with a cream cab, brown deck, a black hull and a red keel. His name is painted on his bow in white.

Appearances[]

Official Description[]

From Official Media:[2]

Bulstrode: No less unpleasant, but a sea-going barge rather than a bus. He too makes only the single appearance (quite enough really, you might say) and ends up, literally, on the beach. His one saving grace is that he came as a blessing in disguise to an author desperate for a story at short notice.
