- "How did this happen?"
"Well I couldn't see the cow over your popcorn maker."
"That's not my fault, I had to jump over the cow after Kana lost control of her bouncy castle!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! It never would've popped if I didn't have to swerve to avoid Percy's cow!"
"Don't look at me, the cow only got out cuz Thomas lost his bunny car!"
"You're right, this is my fault. If I hadn't been showing off so much, none of this would have happened..." - ― Diesel, Nia, Kana, Percy and Thomas
Calliope Crack-Up is the thirtieth episode of the first series of Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go.
Plot[]
One morning, Thomas and Percy are playing around with whistle sounds when they hear the calliope playing in the distance. At Knapford, the rest of the engines are dancing to the sounds of the calliope, before Nia explains what the calliope is. She then explains how she is taking it to Norramby, when Gordon offers the other engines jobs as well. Bunny cars for Thomas, a bouncy castle for Kana, a popcorn car for Diesel, and petting zoo animals for Percy. Before the engines leave, Gordon reminds Nia to be extra careful with the calliope.
On the way to Norramby, Nia lands on a bumpy track, which activates the calliope, and all the engines soon start dancing along to the music. Thomas and Percy challenge each other to a race, but Thomas heads too fast up a hill, and one of his bunny cars crashes into Percy, opening his livestock car's loading ramp. The cow escapes and follows a butterfly on the tracks, and is almost run over by Kana. While rail sliding to avoid the cow, Kana's bouncy castle is poked by a pointy branch from a tree, and the castle soon deflates. Meanwhile, the stray cow heads for Diesel and Nia. Diesel avoids the cow, but Nia ends up derailing and lands in a pool of goop. This leads to something unfortunate happening; the calliope falls to pieces. After the engines all argue over who is to blame for the incident, the engines try to think of a way to fix the whole mess.
First, Percy retrieves his cow, then Diesel pulls Nia out of the goop. When Kana pulls up beside her, she finds out the goop is very sticky, and that gives her an idea. Thomas uses some of the goop to fix the bouncy castle, Kana cleans the goop from Nia using her speed. With just the calliope left to fix, everyone tries to stick it together with the goop, like the bouncy castle, but to no avail, as the calliope falls apart again. Nia soon gets an idea, and the engines all make different sounds with their whistles and horns, so they can fill in for the calliope. At the carnival, Sir Topham Hatt is shocked to see some of the mess, and is especially disappointed to see the broken calliope, as he thought he had heard it playing. The engines soon demonstrate their different sounds to Sir Topham, which he loves. The carnival is a success, even without the calliope.
