Carrying Coal! is a magazine story.

Plot

Thomas is waiting at a level crossing for a lorry to pass by when some coal sacks spill onto the tracks. It takes a very long time to shovel up the coal and shovel it into Thomas' firebox. He races to the nearby station just in time. On his way back on his return journey, he sees the coalman shovelling up coal and he says that he feels bad for the accident. His fireman begins to feel dizzy and the coalman substitutes the role of Thomas' fireman. Thomas quickly arrives at the Main Station and a few days later, his fireman is better.
