Steam locomotives

Steam locomotives, or simply steam engines, steamers or steamies, are locomotives that run on coal and water to make steam, which includes engines like tank engines and tender engines. They are the most common types of railway locomotives on the Island of Sodor. The most notable steam locomotives are the ones from the North Western Railway, which includes Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James, Percy, Toby, Duck, Donald, Douglas, and Oliver. Thomas & Friends would eventually bring these steam locomotives to television, along with introducing a few new ones. The eighth series would introduce a new team called the Steam Team, a team consisting of the first seven steam locomotives in The Railway Series, and a new steam locomotive introduced in the previous series named Emily, and the twenty-second series would replace Edward, Henry and Toby from the team with two new steam locomotives named Nia and Rebecca. There are also many other steam locomotives on Sodor, like ones from the Skarloey Railway and Arlesdale Railway. All Engines Go also includes many steam locomotives that were introduced in The Railway Series or Thomas & Friends.
