- "What do you think's at the end of it?"
"Hmm, I don't know. but I think we should find out!" - ― Kana and Thomas wondering about the rainbow's end
Chasing Rainbows, also known as End of the Rainbow is the fifteenth episode of the first series of Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go.
Plot[]
One rainy day, Thomas and Kana are playing around in the Maintenance Yard, zooming down the slippery tracks and splashing in the mud. Thomas likes the rain because it can wash the mud right off him but just as he says this, the rain stops with him still covered in mud. Kana offers to zoom past Thomas super fast to 'whoosh' all the mud off him but just before she is about to get his other side, Kana sees something up in the sky. It is a large colourful rainbow that seems to end just behind the cottage off in the distance. Excited, Thomas and Kana decide to set off to the end of the rainbow but not before Kana whooshes the rest of the mud off Thomas first, of course.
As the two friends zoom along the track, they wonder what could be at the end of the rainbow. Thomas suggests shiny new wheels, while Kana suggests a golden headlight. But as the two arrive at the cottage, they realise that the end of the rainbow is not there and is instead further away. They keep chasing it and each time they think they are going to find it, the rainbow turns out to be further and further away, almost as if it was running away. On the hill, Thomas and Kana meet up with Percy, who joins them in the chase, hoping for a new mail bag at the end of the rainbow. However, as the three friends start to get closer, the rainbow starts to fade away, until they cannot see it at all. Upset, Kana thinks they will never find out what is at the end but then Nia arrives and points out the rainbow reflection on Kana's side. The rainbow has now moved to their east, so Thomas, Kana and Percy race after it with Nia tagging along, hoping for a big bushel of whistles at the rainbow's end.
Thomas, Kana, Percy and Nia soon find themselves at the bottom of a steep mountain and notice that the end of the rainbow is at the tip top of it. But the tracks lead around the mountain, not up it. Just then, Diesel arrives and asks what is going on. The friends tell him about the rainbow and he points out there is an unfinished track hidden behind the bushes. Thomas gets a brilliant idea and calls up the Fix-it Crew, Carly and Sandy, to come help repair the track so they can all travel up the mountain. Once the tracks are finished, all seven friends make it to the end of the rainbow just in time to see all the different bright colours shining down on them just before the rainbow fades away. Carly notices that they have stumbled upon an old abandoned train station and all the engines start searching for the treasure but they cannot find anything. No golden headlamp, no new mail bag, no bushel of whistles, no shiny hook, no sand and not even a glob of grease. But then Thomas finds something; a turntable and a set of tracks at the tip top of the mountain where you can look out and see the entire Island of Sodor. Thomas realises that this is the perfect place for a clubhouse for the Biggest Adventure Club and decides to call the new location Lookout Mountain. All the engines are amazed and agree that this was the best treasure they could have ever found at the end of the rainbow.
