Biography[]
When Thomas got covered in coal dust after a coal hopper caused a pile of coal to fell on him, some cleaners took a long time to clean Thomas up, making him late for his next train, and Toby had to take Annie and Clarabel, who felt sorry for Thomas.
Uniform[]
An engine cleaner's uniform consists of blue trousers, a black tie and a white shirt with a blue jacket and brown overalls over it. They wear peaked caps and hardhats that are either blue or brown. The uniform colours and outfits vary for international cleaners.

The Careless Cleaner[]
The Careless Cleaner is an engine cleaner who works for the North Western Railway.
Biography[]
After Thomas planned to prove to Percy and Toby that he could manage without a driver, the cleaner meddled with Thomas' controls, which caused Thomas to move and crash into the Tidmouth Stationmaster's House. It is unknown what happened to the cleaner after the accident.

The Chimney-Sweep is a man who sweeps chimneys. He travels on a green bicycle which his equipment is tied to.
Biography[]
The chimney-sweep once caused alarm amongst the engines when they thought he had come to sweep out their funnels. They were wrong and the sweep was called by Sir Topham Hatt to sweep out the waiting-room chimneys at stations along Thomas' Branch Line.
