The "Coffee Pots" were small engines which worked on the North Western Railway. Glynn is one of these engines.

Biography[]

The Coffee Pots were built by a young Sir Topham Hatt and used to work on the Ffarquhar Branch Line before Thomas' arrival on the Island of Sodor.[1] According to Sir Robert Norramby, they had long and productive working lives.[2] Little is known about the other Coffee Pots aside from Glynn - the last survivor of the engines - however it is most likely that they were scrapped.

Technical Details[]

Basis[]

While the Coffee Pots are said to be freelance engines of Topham Hatt's own design in The Railway Series, Glynn (Coffee Pot No. 1) is depicted as being based on the Head Wrightson & Co Ltd. Type 1 "Coffee Pot No. 1" vertical boiler locomotive of 1871. It is unknown whether the other Coffee Pots would have shared the same basis or used a different design.

Livery[]

The livery worn by the other Coffee Pots is currently unknown.

Trivia[]

  • The Coffee Pots were the first Railway Series-exclusive engines to either appear physically or be mentioned in the television series since Class 40 in the fourth series. They, including Glynn, were brought into official canon by Railway Consultant Sam Wilkinson.
  • It is not known how many other Coffee Pots existed in the television series aside from Glynn. It is probable, however, that there are four in total (including Glynn) as per The Railway Series.
