The Culdee Fell Railway (abbreviated as CFR), commonly known as The Mountain Railway, is Sodor's only rack railway. The railway's track gauge is 2ft 7 1⁄2in and it is 8 miles in length.

While it has not officially appeared in Thomas & Friends, it is mentioned in the promotional video "Standard Gauge and Narrow Gauge" that the Thin Controller is in charge of the railway. It was also featured in a Japanese DVD. The railway has also appeared in a few Thomas & Friends magazine stories.

Trivia[]

In Reveal the Mystery of Sodor Island!, the railway is shown using illustrations from the Railway Series book.
Culdee Fell was featured in Railway Adventures, but was erroneously portrayed as a standard gauge station.
In a 2015 interview, railway consultant Sam Wilkinson stated that the Culdee Fell Railway had always been on the list to be created, but this would require a lot of time, resources, and money to create. Also, since there is no live-action reference, everything would have to be done from scratch.^[1]
Between 1995 to 2000, Godred, Culdee, Lord Harry and Catherine were featured as characters on The Official Website's Engine Depot page.^[2] Culdee would also be featured as a hidden character page on the 2010-2015 Official Website.^[3]
