Trivia[]

  • While the number and names of the reindeer (as well as their exact spelling) vary across different pieces of media, Last Train for Christmas depicts the popular version of eight reindeer originally from the 1823 poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas", as well as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer as the additional ninth reindeer, originally from the 1939 story of the same name.
    • Rudolph is the only reindeer to have been explicitly referred to by name in Thomas & Friends.
  • Rudolph has been referenced a few times in Thomas & Friends:
    • Buzz, Buzz - After James' nose was stung by a bee, the Vicar of Wellsworth jokingly notes that even though it is not Christmas yet, it would be a great idea to nickname him "James the Red-Nosed Engine", much to James and his crew's amusement.
    • Santa's Little Engine - After some tree branches stick to Thomas' funnel making them look like reindeer antlers, Sir Robert Norramby then has an idea and pulls a large red nose out of his pocket and sticks it on Thomas' nose, and calls him "Thomas, the Red-Nosed Engine".
  • The song based of Rudolph was used on the Japanese DVD Thomas & Friends Christmas.
  • Rudolph appeared in the ABC for Kids Christmas Spectacular concert with Thomas, The Fat Controller and Santa Claus.
