Diesel's Dirty Trick! is a magazine story.
Plot[]
Diesel is the most unpopular engine on Sodor and is often avoided by the other engines due to his habit of playing nasty tricks. Diesel is not bothered, however, and believes he does not need friends.
While shunting trucks, Diesel tells a nervous Henry one of his axles looks cracked. Henry is taken to the shed by his driver to be inspected, however he finds that none of Henry’s axles are cracked and blames Henry for making them late.
Diesel goes back to work, happy that his trick got Henry. He pushes the trucks hard on purpose, causing them to bump into each other. Diesel grumbles to his driver that he could be finished a lot quicker if he could pull more trucks. Though Diesel's driver does not think he is strong enough, Diesel insists, so extra trucks are coupled on.
While pulling the long line of trucks, Diesel's axle cracks. He is worried that the Fat Controller will be cross that he has not finished his work. Then, Henry pulls up after his journey and offers to take Diesel's trucks, surprising Diesel after he played a nasty trick on him. Diesel returns to the shed with a lot to think about.
