Plot[]

Diesel isn't always a very easy engine to be friends with. One day, Diesel bumps Daisy very hard indeed. Daisy is most alarmed, but Diesel insists it's just his way of saying 'hello'. Daisy warns him he must be careful as she is highly spring and a bump as hard as that could do her a lot of damage.

The hard bump does indeed do Daisy a great deal of damage when the highly-sprung rail-car starts to wobble from side to side. Her springs have broken. She is sent straight to the Dieselworks for repairs, but new springs are hard to find. When Diesel hears the news, he starts fretting that the other engines will blame him for bashing into her. It's not long before the word spreads and all the engines are talking about poor Daisy and her broken springs. Diesel starts to feel guilty.

Diesel travels to the Dieselworks and shyly apologises to Daisy; Diesel is not used to saying 'sorry'. Daisy accepts his apology and tells him that she'd like to be friends with him, but she doesn't appreciate being bumped. She informs Diesel that if he wants to be friends, he will have to change his ways.

The next morning there is a special delivery from the Mainland - some new springs for Daisy. It's not long before she is good as new, with just the right amount of spring. Later that day, Diesel spots Daisy on the track ahead of him. But this time, he doesn't bump her and says 'good morning' instead. Daisy is very surprised and very pleased. In fact, Diesel doesn't bump into any engine for the rest of the day as he's so pleased to have Daisy as a friend. Maybe Diesel can make even more friends, if he really can learn to change his ways.
