Diesel Takes a Tumble is a magazine story. The second part of this story is titled The Rescue.
Plot[]
One morning, Diesel is feeling extra mischievous. The Fat Controller has told him off for being lazy and he decides that he will bump some trucks to cheer himself up. The trucks think Diesel deserved his telling off but Diesel just bumps them even harder. This makes the trucks very annoyed and they begin plotting a way to get back at Diesel.
The trucks remember that there is a ditch by the side of the line that passes by the workmen's hut. When Diesel begins to shunt more trucks as quickly as he can, the trucks quickly jam their brakes on and Diesel bumps right off the rails, falling onto his side in the ditch.
The workmen come to inspect and Diesel explains what happened. The workmen are unsympathetic as they know Diesel was bullying the trucks and report the accident to The Fat Controller. The Fat Controller tells Diesel he will have to stay in the ditch until a crane can arrive and the trucks tell Diesel it serves him right.
