Dirk Bach (23rd April 1961, Cologne - 1st October 2012, Berlin) was a German actor, voice actor and comedian who provided voices for the German Thomas and Friends audiobooks.
He was known for his own comedy show "Dirk Bach Show" that ran from 1992 to 1994 as well as "Lukas" and "Der kleine Mönch". Along with Sonja Zietlow, he moderated the German version of "I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!" from 2004 to 2012.
Bach narrated animated shows such as "TOM & das Erdbeermarmladebrot mit Honig" and "Oggy and the Cockroaches" and voiced Caruso from "The Little Polar Bear".
He was married to a computer technician named Thomas, even though their marriage had no legal validity in Germany. Bach was advocating for gay rights, fighting AIDS and HIV, as well as supporting organizations such as Amnesty International and PETA.
He died on 1 October 2012 of heart failure, aged 51. While never confirmed, it is believed his death caused the end of the audiobooks run.
