Thomas the Tank Engine Wikia

Doncaster is the location of Doncaster railway works, an engine works that was once owned by the London and North Eastern Railway.

Doncaster was built in 1840 by the Grand Junction Railway after the Industrial Revolution. It was later established by the Great Northern Railway in 1853, replacing the previous works in Boston and Peterborough. At the time, Doncaster only maintained and repaired engines, until 1867, where they started building engines. Gordon, Flying Scotsman and their brothers were built at Doncaster in the 1920s to 1930s.
