Doug Blaine was the Vice President of Marketing at Bachmann and was also in charge of the Bachmann Thomas & Friends range until his retirement in April 2025.
Biography[]
Doug Blaine went to college for marketing. His first job out of college was at Budd Company. At some point, Doug ended up cold-calling to Bachmann and was hired on the spot when he made a proposal. He began working at Bachmann full time in 1999.[1]
He was there when the original contract between Gullane Entertainment and Bachmann was signed to make Thomas & Friends models in 2002.[1]
In June 2021, Doug began to make regular appearances on Thomas Tuesday, a monthly livestream hosted by TrainWorld typically taking place at the beginning of every month. During these livestreams he would reveal and give updates on new Bachmann products including prototypes, completed samples and shipment updates. On the March 2025 Thomas Monday livestream, he announced his next month retirement and showed off several items he had accumulated over the years.[1] He received a golden Bachmann Douglas as a tribute to his three decades of service to the model train industry.
