Dryaw Hill is a steep section of the Ffarquhar Branch Line between Dryaw and Toryreck. There is a small runaway siding here.
History[]
The embankments for Dryaw Hill were dug during the Knapford Harbour Development Scheme, which saw Knapford station re-sited to the north side of the River Els and the passenger line re-routed accordingly.
In 1985, Thomas was slowed down by this hill when he became a runaway, allowing an inspector to climb aboard and stop him at Toryreck.
Later, when Diesel made his second visit to Sodor, Daisy leaked oil on the rails here, causing Thomas to slip into the runaway siding, derailing Clarabel. Fortunately, Diesel was nearby and was able to rerail the train before returning to the Mainland.
