Emily's Winter Party Special is a magazine story, it was illustrated by using images from the CGI television series. Two art promos of Thomas and Emily are included as well.

Plot[]

It is the day of the Sodor Winter Festival and the Fat Controller gives all his engines important jobs; the most helpful engine will be the party engine. All the engines want to be chosen, but Emily is not given any jobs and is sure this will result in her not being chosen. Suddenly, the wind blows the Fat Controller hat away. Emily offers to find the hat for him. This makes her think that she is sure to be chosen as the party engine.

Emily spends so long day-dreaming about being the party engine that she forgets to look for the hat and the festival is fast approaching. Emily passes a truck full of presents, waiting for the party engine. As she thinks she is bound to be the chosen engine, Emily decides to take the presents with her. Emily is coupled to the presents train and is covered in sparkling lights. By now, she has completely forgotten about the important top-hat.

Just then, Thomas arrives with the Fat Controller. Emily feels terrible and confesses that she was so excited at the prospect of being the party engine that she had forgotten to find his hat. The Fat Controller gives the job of party engine to Thomas and sends Emily off to continue looking for his hat.

As Emily puffs slowly and sadly along the tracks, she spots a snowman. The snowman has a scarf, a carrot nose and on top of his head is the Fat Controller's missing hat.

At the party, everyone is having a wonderful time, except the Fat Controller who is missing his hat. Just then, Emily arrives with a special present for the concerned controller. The Fat Controller is delighted to be reunited with his hat and calls Emily a really useful engine. This makes Emily's boiler bubble with pride.
