Thomas the Tank Engine Wikia

Since the website's launch in 1996, the official Thomas & Friends website was loaded with games.

Most of the older games were ran by Adobe Flash Player, which made them hard to play due to the deprecation of Flash Player at the end of 2020. However, the swf files for most of the games were saved in the Internet Archive and can be played using the right tools and modifications for Flash Player, though not all games were saved. The newer games use JavaScript and HTML5.

Note: Some of the games may be missing or may not be in the correct order.

TheOfficialWebsiteGames

Early Games section

  • There is some unused content from some of the games. (Found by @generic_thomas on Twitter)
    • There is an unused sprite in Memory Match that is just Daisy's blush from her card.[* 3]
    • In the Celebration Game, there is an unused passenger meant for Bertie's section.[* 4]
    • In Decorate Tidmouth Sheds, Gordon uses Edward's whistle.[* 5] This seems to be a leftover from an earlier version where Edward was in Gordon's place. The file name for the whistle sound correctly identifies it as Edward's and the code mentions him a few times in place of Gordon.[* 6]
      • In the Japanese version, Gordon's whistle is corrected.[* 7] Despite this, both Edward's and Henry's whistles remain in the files (unused).
    • Some debugging text remains in the files of the Building Games. The Thomas Building Game also has an unused image found in the files.
  • The Building Games are based on Lego Duplo Thomas & Friends sets.
  • The Paint an Engine is basically the same as Paint Game from the 2001-2003 website.
  • The Harold section in the Celebration Game is basically the same as Harold's Balloon Adventure from the 2001-2003 website.
  • The Brass Band's Truck is the Post Van/Bakery Van painted differently.
  • Several images the games use are based on the Calling All Engines, Series 3, 5, and predominantly 8 production reference measurement images.
  • The Japanese versions of the games are slightly different:
    • In Sodor Race, the engines have CGI art, and Duck and Bertie are replaced with Hiro and Bash.
      • In addition, Hiro takes Duck's place, Bash takes Percy's, and Percy takes Bertie's.
    • In Memory Match, the engines have their CGI promos. Spencer, Hiro, Charlie, Dash, Victor, Diesel, Kevin, Harold, Captain, and Cranky replace Daisy, BoCo, Mavis, Iron Bert, and the Station Man.
    • In the Jigsaw games, the engine promos are replaced with their CGI ones.
    • In Railway Journey, the engines have CGI art, and Percy and Lady are replaced with James and Hiro.
      • In addition, Hiro takes Thomas' place, James takes Lady's, and Thomas takes Percy's.
    • In Decorate Tidmouth Sheds, the engines have CGI art, and Henry is replaced with Hiro. (However, his whistle remains in the files, unused.[* 7])
      • In addition, Hiro takes Gordon's place and Gordon takes Henry's.
    • The games Sodor Race, Build an Engine, Railway Journey, Decorate Tidmouth Sheds, the Jigsaws, Memory Match and the Celebration Game are later reused in the Japanese 2007 Website.

Goofs[]

  • On some versions of Sodor Race when it shows Duck's losing screen, Duck is missing his right eye and Bertie is sometimes slanted into the ground. There was also an invisible ground which can let the player float in the air.[* 8]
  • In Celebration Game:
    • Thomas is depicted with a red running board in the cut scenes.
    • There are two spaces between using.
  • In Decorate Tidmouth Sheds, Gordon has Edward's whistle sound.[* 5] This would later be fixed in the Japanese version.
  • In Paint an Engine, Edward's front coupling is missing.
  • In the promos of Sodor Race:
    • Thomas and Duck's front couplings are missing.
    • Duck's eyebrows are missing and the half of his running board is red
    • Percy's running board is sometimes grey in some releases and his siderods are not connected.
  • In the Japanese version of Memory Match, Dash is overlayed on BoCo.
  • In Build an Engine, Duncan has yellow wheels and a red running board.
