Real-life History
Thomas Jnr. was built by Richards Engineering of North Wales and arrived on the Beer Heights Light Railway sometime in the 1970s. On 14 July 1975, Thomas Jnr. was unveiled by the Rev. W. Awdry on the railway's opening ceremony and had a face that was crafted for the event. The Revered had driven Thomas Jr. for the event and since then the railway had proven to be a great attraction for visitors and the original line had been extended.
Afterwards, Thomas Jnr. had by then been deemed unsuitable for passenger services as the line extended, and was withdrawn from service sometime in the early 1980s.
Livery
Thomas Jnr. was originally painted with a dark green livery, red lining and yellow lettering. It now sports a blue livery.

- Thomas Jnr. was the second real-life steam engine to be named after Thomas the Tank Engine by creator, the Rev. W. Awdry. The first being the Nene Valley Railway Thomas in 1971.
- Thomas Jnr. appears to have been purchased and maintained by a private collector. The engine still sports its original face.

Real-life History
Built by the Yorkshire Engine Company of Sheffield in 1931, the locomotive was designed by Henry Greenly and A.L.S. Richardson, modelling the engine on a Canadian design, for the founder of the railway, Captain John Howey believed that a Canadian design would provide better protection for the engine's driver. The locomotive originally carried the name, Dr. Syn until 1948 when it was named after Winston Churchill.
