Thomas Train Set Compilation Video Volume 5 is a promotional New Zealand VHS featuring two first series episodes and three second series episodes narrated by Ringo Starr. It was released by Roadshow Entertainment in association with The Warehouse and Hasbro for a promotional offer.

Episodes

1. Thomas, Percy and the Coal - Thomas becomes a little too cheeky for his own good. Trucks and coal bring disaster - first to Thomas - then to Percy.
2. Thomas and the Breakdown Train - James has trouble with the trucks one day, but Thomas is there to help out. The Fat Controller is so pleased he gives Thomas his own branch line.
3. Whistles and Sneezes - Gordon looks foolish and Henry gets even with naughty boys who drop stones from bridges.
4. Percy and Harold - Harold the Helicopter is being a nuisance. He thinks railways are out of date. Percy and his driver surprise him.
5. The Deputation - When Donald and Douglas come to Henry's rescue, the other engines give the twins their full support.

Trivia

• Mavis and Cranky are seen on the back cover, but they do not appear in any of the episodes as Mavis was introduced in the third series and Cranky was introduced in the fifth series.

Goofs

• The episodes are copyrighted 1984 on the back cover, but this tape also features episodes that were produced in 1986.
• David Mitton is misspelt as David Mitten on the back cover.
• The ending theme is cut off on all episodes except for Thomas and the Breakdown Train.
• The last bit of the yellow transitioning is visible when the nameboards start after Thomas and the Breakdown Train.
• The audio changes volume throughout the tape. This is most noticeable when Whistles and Sneezes starts.
