The Steamroller is a faceless green steamroller which was once brought in to flatten the path out of Wellsworth Vicarage Orchard so that Trevor could attend a fête. The steamroller later accompanied Trevor to the fête and gave extra rides.

Technical Details[]

Basis[]

The steamroller is based on a William Foster & Co. eight-ton Double Crank Compound (DCC) traction engine built in 1927 named Fiery Elias that was owned by the Rev. W. Awdry's friend, the Rev. Teddy Boston, however with the front wheels replaced by a roller. Trevor is also based on this traction engine, albeit with the front wheels intact. Like Trevor, the steamroller differs from its basis in that it is depicted with a belly-tank under his boiler and is depicted as a Single Crank Compound (SCC) traction engine.

Livery[]

The steamroller is painted dark green with red lining and wheels, a black smokebox and gold boiler bands, identical to Trevor. Its rollers are grey, while their supports are black.

Appearances[]

Magazine Stories[]

The steamroller only appeared in the 1994 magazine story, Rolling Along!.
