Several firefighters or firemen have been seen across the Island of Sodor. They are called when fires are required to be put out or if a rescue is happening. They usually use fire engines.
Biography[]
When Gordon's whistle was jammed and was emitting a continuous sound, five fire brigades mistook the noise for a fire alarm and arrived at Tidmouth with their fire engines.
After Henry's fireman accidentally set the sleepers alight after throwing out Henry's fire when he broke his tender coupling, he goes to telephone the fire brigade while Henry's driver eases Henry clear of the blaze.
After Gordon's crew put out a fire using a hose from the cab, suggested by Gordon, a fire engine arrived, and the fire brigade found out that the fire was already put out. The fire chief praised Gordon for his quick thinking, and he awarded him with the Queen's Fire Service Medal for his bravery.
