Plot[]

One day, Sir Topham Hatt asks Thomas and Bruno to do a special job for him. They are to take a marble statue of his great-grandfather, Sir Topham Hatt I, to Vicarstown for its grand unveiling. Thomas is thrilled and wants to get the statue to Vicarstown as quickly as possible. He suggests to Bruno that they stick to the Main Line like they always do, but Bruno says that it will be very busy. Thomas is sure he is right, so they try the Main Line.

But just as Bruno suspected, the Main Line is very busy and he and Thomas are stuck in a long line of traffic. Thomas decides to take a shortcut to bypass the traffic, but Bruno isn't sure about it. The shortcut would put them right in the path of Gordon's express route and cause them to be stuck at the crossing. However, Thomas feels confident and carries on anyway. As they reach the crossing, they see Gordon about to cross. Thomas makes it just in time, but the crossing bar hits the statue and makes a crack in the hat!

Thomas feels bad for not listening to Bruno and causing the statue to be damaged. Thomas lets Bruno take the lead, as he shunts from the back and lets him choose their route to Vicarstown. Bruno decides to go through Crumble Canyon. It's very dangerous, but Bruno knows it is the only way to get to Vicarstown on time. Thomas and Bruno have to dodge falling rocks, but they soon get through safely.

At Vicarstown, Sir Topham Hatt notices the crack straight away. When a seagull lands on the statue, the crack widens and the whole hat crumbles! Sir Topham Hatt has to pop his own top-hat on the statue for the unveiling. Sir Topham Hatt thanks Thomas and Bruno and says that he would doff his hat to them, but he doesn't have one anymore!
