Fuji Television Network, Inc. (Japanese: フジテレビ) is a Japanese television station based in Minato, Tokyo, Japan. It was founded in 1957 and began broadcasting in 1959. They are best known for broadcasting various shows in from both their home country and other regions, including Iron Chef, Little Women, Quiz $ Millionaire and Speed Racer.

Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends (Japanese: きかんしゃトーマス) premiered on Japanese television on Fuji Television on 4 October 1990 as a segment of the children's programme Ponkickies and became very popular in Japan. The Japanese dub of Thomas featured narrator Leo Morimoto and a full voice cast managed by Aoni Production. Fuji Television's home video distributor, Pony Canyon, released Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends on VHS and DVD in Japan from 1991 to 2007.

Fuji Television paid in part for the production of the third series, which was first released in the UK on 11 November 1991 on the Time for Trouble and Other Stories and Trust Thomas and Other Stories VHS tapes and a week later on Shining Time Station in the US on 18 November 1991. Fuji Television requested the production of Thomas and the U.K. Trip which aired on 30 and 31 December 1991 as part of the Ponkickies series.

After the eighth series was aired from 2006 to 2007, Ponkickies was cancelled in March 2007 due to low viewing figures. In October 2007, Fuji Television Kids Entertainment Inc. cancelled the contract with Thomas & Friends, as well as other overseas programmes that had been associated with them since 1990. In 2008, the production of the Japanese dub of Thomas & Friends and the broadcast rights were transferred to Sony Creative Products Inc.
