Gordon is a big blue tender engine who lives and works on the Island of Sodor, and is the North Western Railway's number 4 engine.

Did you know? Awdry named Gordon after a boy named Gordon Chapman, the son of the local porter. Chapman was a rude boy who lived and played on the Awdry's street when Christopher was a child.
