Gordon Gets the Giggles is a magazine story illustrated using images from the television series. It was republished in 2025 as part of the Classic Thomas Story Collection with slight alterations to the images and text.
Plot[]
Gordon is a very serious engine, but one day, Rebecca gets covered in sticky honey and mixed vegetables. Gordon starts laughing and can't stop himself, no matter how hard he tries. Gordon doesn't want to lose his serious reputation so when Thomas asks about the noise he was making, Gordon makes up an excuse about something being wrong with his funnel.
Gordon races away, still laughing. He meets Rebecca at a crossing and laughs even more. Gordon shoots through the crossing before it is even fully opened. The other engines can't work out what is wrong with Gordon. Paxton advises Gordon to seek some help so Gordon rushes to the Sodor Steamworks as quickly as he can.
When Gordon asks Victor and Kevin to help with his case of 'the giggles', they burst out laughing themselves. Then, the Fat Controller arrives and Gordon says that he doesn't deserve to pull the express. But the Fat Controller assures Gordon that there's nothing wrong with laughing. Then, the engines and their controller all start laughing together - but Gordon laughs the loudest.
