Gordon and Rebecca, Coming Through! is a magazine story illustrated using images from the television series.
Plot[]
Gordon is one of the strongest and fastest engines on Sodor and he's been pulling the express for years. At Knapford, Gordon encounters Rebecca who hasn't been on the island for very long. She sometimes pulls the express too. Gordon can see Rebecca is waiting for her coaches and tells her that when the coaches are late, he likes to blast hard on his whistle. Thomas hears him and hurries along with the express coaches. Gordon isn't finished dishing out advice though and tells Rebecca to go fast over Gordon's Hill or she might get stuck halfway up and require a push. Gordon then tells her the express must never be late and if an engine gets in her way, she should blow her whistle and yell 'Express coming through'. Rebecca listens to everything Gordon has to say, but she's not convinced his way is necessarily the right way.
The next day, it's Rebecca's turn to take the express. Presently, she finds herself stuck behind Diesel. She decides not to shout at him and waits patiently behind him. But then there's trouble. Gordon is coming along in the opposite direction, on Diesel and Rebecca's line. Gordon orders Diesel out of the way, which reveals Rebecca steaming towards him with the express, both going too fast to stop in time. The signalman switches the points just in time and sends Gordon into a siding where he crashes into a set of buffers and derails. Gordon wishes he'd slowed down and now realises that he had been wrong to tell Rebecca how to do her job. Rebecca is grateful for Gordon's admission. Gordon then tells her to keep moving as the express can't be late. Rebecca agrees and says with a grin, 'Express coming through'.

- A speech mark (") is missing to indicate the continuation of Gordon's speech in section five after 'said Gordon'.
- In section six, the text reads: 'The next day was Rebecca's turn to pull the Express. she found herself stuck behind Diesel'. The "s" on she should be capitalized as it follows a full stop (.).
