Background Information[]
Harold is a fictional helicopter created by the Rev. W. Awdry.

Behind the Scenes[]
2D animated rigs[]
Harold in All Engines Go uses a series of complicated 2D rigs created by Nelvana Studio. These rigs are made up of different assets, which can be stretched, squashed and posed to create the desired movements and poses. Harold's movements are handled by an animation team, with a posing team to create specific poses as required for certain shots.[1]
Harold's 2D design has undergone many changes from the design used in the original series:
- He has a grey face rather than his face being embedded into his bodywork.
- His paint went from white to cream.
- In certain promos and through merchandise, he remains painted white. It is unclear as to why.
- The name written on his sides has been removed.
- While it is unknown the exact reason for this change, it is most likely so that the English names for the characters will not appear in other dubs.
- He has a camera mounted to his front rather than a lamp.
- He has blue irises.
- He now has eyebrows.
- He no longer has wheels under his floats.
