Hearing Things is a magazine story.
Plot[]
One morning, in his little shed with Henrietta, Toby hears a funny noise and asks Henrietta what she is saying. Henrietta, however, insists that she said nothing. When his driver arrives for work, Toby forgets all about the noise.
Later, while taking some trucks from the quarry, Toby hears the noise again. Toby again thinks it is Henrietta, however Henrietta says she has not said anything and that Toby must be hearing things.
That night, back at the shed, Toby is feeling sad as he is adamant he did hear something. In the middle of the night, he feels something tickling him and begins to laugh, waking up Henrietta.
The next morning, Toby hears the noise again, this time making it out to be a squeaky sound. Toby tells his driver his valves must need to be oiled, however his driver has only recently oiled them. After going to try and find out what is making the noise, Toby's driver finds the source: a small mouse which has been hiding inside Toby's cab.
