“Howdy, everybody. Thomas is overloaded right now. I'll whistle for him!”
― Hank

Heave Ho Thomas! is the sixth episode of the twelfth series.

Plot

Thomas is called to the docks to meet a new engine called Hank, who hails from America and is reported to be very strong. When Hank first arrives, the Fat Controller gives Thomas three jobs that he has to do: take new machinery to the factory, pick up stone to deliver to the shunting yard and pick up an old tractor from Farmer McColl’s farm to take to the repair yard, all of which he is to do with Hank to show him the important sights of Sodor and be back at Knapford by tea time for Hank’s welcome party.

When Thomas and Hank officially meet, Thomas takes offense when Hank calls him little. When Hank offers to take Thomas’ heavy loads, Thomas attempts to prove his strength and pull them all by himself. He starts with the machinery and instead of going to the factory, he heads straight to the quarry to pick up the stone trucks. Hank again offers to help, but Thomas still refuses though he is left out of puff to whistle “hello” to some children. The two both head to Farmer McColl’s farm to pick up the tractor which Hank once again offers to help with, but Thomas is adamant that he can do it on his own.

Again, Thomas is out of puff but he continues going while Hank whistles “hello” for him. Eventually, all of the heavy loads cause Thomas to crack his cylinder. Apologising to Hank, Thomas asks for his help which Hank is all to happy to agree to and the two engines deliver the loads. They later arrive at Knapford station for Hank's welcome party where Thomas calls Hank a strong engine, while Hank states that everyone on Sodor cheers for Thomas which is something to be proud of.
