The Heavy Industrial Area is a zone on the outskirts of the Sodor Ironworks. It was here that James crashed into a sludge pipe with the Queen of Sodor.

- The pipe's status varies throughout the seventh series. In Peace and Quiet and a deleted scene from Something Fishy, the pipe is intact. In James and the Queen of Sodor, James accidentally destroys the pipe. In Salty's Stormy Tale, the pipe is not seen at all. A deleted scene from Fergus Breaks the Rules shows that it is still severed, now pouring out smoke or steam.
