Plot[]

Part 1[]

On one of the hottest days in Sodor history, Toby is taking a train of logs along the main line. However, the trucks soon become hot and bored, eventually taking matters into their own buffers to end their boredom. As a result, they bump into Toby and cause their train to become a runaway, much to the tram's horror and dismay. Eventually, the trucks push Toby close to the Sodor Wishing Tree, which Henry and his crew are giving extra water to help it last through the heatwave. The signalman manages to divert the runaway into a siding before it can hit Henry, but it results in Toby and his train crashing into a heap. After checking on Toby and collectively grumbling about the recent springs of poor behavior from the trucks, Toby asks Henry for help, and the bigger engine soon sets off to get the Breakdown Train while Toby takes the time to enjoy his unexpected rest.

Not long after, Toby is successfully rerailed, and the two talk about Henry's current activities while the trucks are rerailed. As the pair notice the sky starting to turn cloudy, a bolt of lightning strikes near the signal box's foliage, and it doesn't take long for a fire to start rapidly spreading. At Henry's urging, the signalman calls for help. At the Sodor Search and Rescue Center, Harold is showing off his new helicopter bucket, and not long after Belle and Flynn express their amazement all three are sent off to deal with the fire in Henry's forest.

At Henry's forest, Henry and Toby are struggling to deal with the fire, but Henry is distraught at the destruction it's bringing to the forest, even more so when the Wishing Tree gets caught in the crossfire. Toby manages to save Henry before the Wishing Tree falls onto him, but suffers a brief panic attack from a burning branch on his roof before it gets doused by a load of water from Harold's new helicopter bucket. Belle and Flynn soon arrive to further assist, eventually putting it out completely. As Harold sets off in the aftermath to put out the remains, Toby is quick to notice Henry is still unhappy, the big engine grieving the loss of the Wishing Tree and the others in the forest.

As Harold dumps another load on the remains of the fire, a sudden gust of wind picks up sparks and carries them to the other side of the River Hoo, causing a new fire to spring up. As Harold extinguishes all he can, he heads off to warn the others as the fire begins creeping closer to Ballahoo.

Part 2[]

As the fire reaches town, Belle, Flynn, Henry, and Toby speed as fast as they can to Ballahoo, but despite everyone's best efforts, the wind picks up and causes the fire to spread even more, forcing everyone to retreat and regroup at the junction. As Belle and Flynn return to try again, Toby sends Henry to get help while he evacuates Ballahoo. Despite his reservations, Henry does as he is told.

As Toby hurriedly gets his passengers to board, Henry is racing down the Main Line to get help, but almost crashes into Thomas and Percy after going through his tunnel. Alerting the tank engines of the situation, they recall the times they let the firemen use the water in their tanks to extinguish the flames, later telling Henry about the bigger engines at Vicarstown. With this in mind, Henry sets off to Vicarstown to get the bigger engines, while Thomas and Percy race towards Ballahoo to lend the water in their own tanks to help.

At Vicarstown, Gordon is recalling his and Spencer's latest trip to London to Flying Scotsman, both making fun of Spencer in the process. This lasts until Henry comes in and tells the three about the fire, and Flying Scotsman wastes no time in volunteering all three to help out. On the way to Ballahoo, however, they encounter a fire, and despite Henry's reservations, they make it through with the other bigger engines supporting him.

At Ballahoo, the situation has become dire, with both the fire continuing to spread and Thomas and Percy both running out of water to use on it. Belle considers giving up, but the bigger engines arrive just in time to provide the water needed, allowing Belle and Flynn to finally put the fire out. Not long after, the rain finally starts pouring, ending the recent drought as everyone celebrate's their victory against the fire.

Later, Henry and Toby are helping to replant the forest, and they quickly notice a new wishing tree growing in place of the old one.

Back at Vicarstown, Scotsman, Spencer, and Gordon are discussing the recent bad behavior from the trucks. While Scotsman tries proposing an alliance, he is forced to leave before finishing, much to Spencer and Gordon's ire.

In another scene, Henry and Toby are enjoying themselves by the coast.
