The Himalayas are a mountain range separating India from the Tibetan Plateau (the world's highest and largest plateau) of China.
History[]
A long time ago - before he was painted red - Yong Bao came to the Himalayas in search of a tiger which he had previously seen in the shunting yards. The tiger then led him to the site of an accident, where another engine had come off the tracks and was hanging off the edge of the mountain. Fortunately, Yong Bao was able to save the engine, and was repainted red for his heroism.
When Thomas arrived in the Chinese Himalayas, he spotted Nia making her way along the mountain tracks, who was still angry with him, after being abandoned in Arizona. After accepting Thomas' apology, an avalanche caused by Thomas' yelling and whistling swept Nia away towards the edge of the mountain cliff.
Thomas tried to pull Nia to safety by himself, but a rock underneath her got dislodged, nearly causing both of them to fall. Luckily, Yong Bao came to the rescue, and helped Thomas pull Nia to safety. After the snow had died down, the breakdown train was brought to lift Nia back on the rails.
Thomas later came to the Himalayas to try to find a runaway water wheel, and later helped Yong Bao rescue Lei.
