HummieMann

Hummie Mann (born 29th October 1955 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada) is a Canadian-born American film score composer who composed the score and some of the original songs for Thomas and the Magic Railroad. He has scored over fifty feature films and television films.

Mann's agent had been trying to contact the production offices for an interview but was unable to get a hold of anyone, so Mann helped out by putting the number on auto-dial through his phone in his Los Angeles office. When he got hold of someone, he was told that Britt Allcroft was actually in Los Angeles that day interviewing composers. Immediately, he ran over to Britt's house in Santa Monica, handed off some CDs to the housekeeper, and returned to his office to learn Britt was interested in an interview, leading him to head right back to Santa Monica for a meeting before returning to his home in Seattle: he was hired the very next day. He was excited to work on the film as his two daughters had grown up watching Shining Time Station.

Mann got involved during post-production, when the film was still going through test screenings. As part of his job, he attended a few of these, including the notable screening where audience feedback led to the cutting of P.T. Boomer. As a result, Mann never scored a version of the film in which the P.T. Boomer character was still present.
