These vans are based on Southern Railway (SR) insulated four-wheeled vans, in particular the 1931 insulated vans built for meat and banana traffic.

These vans are painted SR cream with white roofs and black chassis.

- Three of this type of van were featured on Wilbert Awdry's OO gauge North Western Railway layout, as part of the consist used for both the Morning Milk and the Flying Kipper. These vans were constructed using lithographic paper on a balsa wood body, fitted to an Essar chassis with BRMSB wheels.

This van is based on a four-wheeled 10 ton insulated fish (or 'insulfish') van.
Livery[]
This van is painted SR cream with a white roof and black chassis. The letters "N W" are painted on its sides in red, along with "Insul" (shortened from "insulated"), indicating its type. Its number (480) is also painted on its sides in matching fashion.
