Several different types of International Coaches have appeared in episodes and specials taking place away from the Island of Sodor. Most of these were re-textured variants of existing coach models such as the Red Express Coaches, the Green Express Coaches and the Special Express Coaches.

The Chinese Red Stroudley Coaches are a set of coaches which appeared in China.

The coaches are based on LBSC Stroudley Coaches built to a design by Stroudley between the early 1870s and late 80s. Several coaches of this type are preserved on the Bluebell Railway and the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.
Livery[]
The coaches are painted red with two orange stripes along their sides. They have grey wheels, axleboxes and bufferbeams. Their roofs are painted a light shade of purple-grey.
In the twenty-second series episode, Thomas and the Dragon, several plain Red Stroudley Coaches with dark grey roofs are used on the Chinese Railway.
In the animated short for Yong Bao and the Tiger, the coaches are painted two-tone red with light red lining and white wheel trims.

The Italian Silver Stroudley Coaches are a pair of coaches which Thomas frequently pulled during his time in Italy.

The Indian Cream Express Coaches are a set of coaches from India. They are often seen being pulled by Noor Jehan.

These coaches are based on Pullman luxury coaches. Aubrey, Aiden, Spencer's, Connor's and Caitlin's coaches all share the same design.
Livery[]
These coaches are painted cream with red, purple, lavender and sky blue patterns along their sides and purple roofs. Their livery is similar to to Noor Jehan, who uses a rake for her tiger safaris. Like Noor Jehan, their colours are based upon that of the Palace On Wheels, a luxury train in India.

Italian Blue Express Coaches[]
The Italian Blue Express Coaches are luxurious coaches from Italy. Lorenzo used one of these as an alternative to Beppe to transport Dame Bella.

The coach is painted in a similar ultramarine blue colour to Lorenzo, with a gold patterned band along the bottom. It has faded baby blue window surrounds with gold patterns in the corners, not unlike those found on Beppe.

Two German express coaches appeared in the Great Race Friends Near and Far online video series. One of these coaches had a visible face.
They appeared at the last station in Germany that Frieda and Ivan arrived to after competing in the Great Railway Show.

African Coaches[]
When Percy was transporting Queen Zuri to the Wildlife Sanctuary in Kenya, he came across two African Coaches arguing. They stopped arguing when they found out who Percy was transporting and Percy later pushed them back to their shed.
