Jack, re-titled Jack the Front Loader in 2011 and Thomas' New Friend in 2015, is the thirty-third book in the My Thomas Story Library series.

Plot

A new front loader called Jack arrives on Sodor and is eager to work. On his first day, he ends up in trouble but soon jumps in at the right time to save Thomas from a collapsing bridge.

Goofs

• In the Czech version, Kelly is female. However, he is still referred to as a male when the bridge falls.
• In the original publication of the book, when Jack and Alfie are loading Monty, he is referred to as Max. This is corrected in later versions.
• Kelly is a lighter shade of blue than he should be.
• In the tenth illustration, Kelly is missing some of his details.
• In one illustration, Thomas has a red footplate.
